Ex-Cheat Warns Casinos Online
About New Technology
With the security of land-based and online
casinos on the minds of many gamblers, it might be troubling news to hear that
more and more immoral and unethical techies are using technology to cheat in
online casinos - and not just against the casino, but against other players as
well.
A widely publicized report and interview was
recently released by Silicon News, in which suggestions came to light that many
players robbing casinos online and other players blind. One such
suggestion was by Richard Marcus, a highly recognized and former cheat, who took
many Atlantic City casinos for millions of dollars spanning twenty-five years -
and never once getting caught.
Marcus has been warning the casinos themselves
that they need to do more to prevent cheats from banking in by simply relying on
video surveillance and floor managers. The reason, Marcus says, is that
most smart cheats know that the key to not getting caught is to not give
themselves too much exposure time. This surmounts to not spending too much
time at a single table, game, or the casino itself. More people and
dealers need to be trained to spot the little ticks that cheats often make,
which no video camera will be able to pick up.
As for the online casinos who must deal with
software pirates, techie extortionists, and cheating players, the need to
implement stronger prevention and monitoring tactics against cheating is even
more important. The word on the cyber streets now is that some online
poker players are using software that can actually tap into a poker rooms live
software operations and even see the cards that other players have been dealt.
